Eagle´s Nest, Berchtesgaden, Saltmines &
Koenigssee
See all the Highlights of the Bavarian Mountains
in one day.
Located at an elevation of 1.834 meters (6.017 ft), the
"Eagle´s Nest" offers a stupendous
view across the Bavarian Mountains and the Salzburg
Alps. We will access the building with special busses
starting from historical Obersalzberg.
Passing the Austrian Bavarian Border we reach the first picturesque Bavarian village Markt Schellenberg with the Koenigssee (Kingslake) River running through the town. Later the drive continues on a very scenic mountain road all the way up to the Obersalzberg at an elevation of about 1.000 meters (3.280 ft). From that historical point we will access the Eagle's Nest with special busses and elevator. With that elevator with its length of 124 meters (406 ft) you will arrive right in the middle of the building of the Eagle's Nest itself. The Eagle's Nest lies at the top of the mountain Kehlstein beside the famous snow covered Bavarian Mountains.
The crystal clear Koenigssee (Kingslake) is nestled in a deep valley enclosed between steeply scarped mountains dominated by the gracefully pyramid of the Watzmann. After visiting the lake it is time for lunch at the Bavarian Mountain Town Berchtesgaden before we will visit the Saltmines
there.
